Site of the oldest operating premises in Launceston, built by Johnny Fawkner in 1824 first licensed in 1826 as the Cornwall Hotel. Batman and Fawkner ended up sworn enemies.

A large rambling establishment that aims to cater to all tastes.The public bar and nightclub attract the younger set, though the video-arcade games in the bar do seem incongruous. The revamped Rick's dining area is most appealing.This is a significant building in the history of both Launceston and Melbourne. A major force in town and looks set for another 100 years.
